todays shopping

so i decided to change my grocery shopping day to thursdays. I was having a hard time finding items on my list when i waited until sunday. So with riley in tow.. first stop was the deli for some jo jos. (to buy a little time to get my shopping done!) lots of great deals this week. spent more than I was planning... but I came in under budget last week. so some of the things I was able to stockpile were... coke (for dave) and 2 bags of chocolate chips (from daves wish list!) and 6 lbs of hamburger, 3 lbs of sausage and much more. SO here are the numbers. The shelf price was : $ 133.34, what I paid was $69.08. thats a savings of $ 64. 75. not too bad. I still walked out with a rain check... but thats alright, and was only able to use one coupon this week. the cashier was very impresses with my thirfty shopping. hopefully in the weeks to come I will be able to cut my bill even more as my stockpile grows!

the picture doesnt really do it justice... theres a lot you cant really see.. and I forgot to add the eggs.

I finally did it!

SO for the last month I have made a challenge for myself. With daily expenses getting higher and higher and being on one income I decided to see how far I can stretch a dollar. I have been clipping coupons and watching sales and instead of buying what we need for the week I have been stockpiling and looking ahead. I was spending about the same at the begining but this last sunday ( my official grocery shopping day) I actually saved more than I spent! I was so excited! I have found now that I have a decent pantry going that I am not running to the store for a can of tomato sauce and spending 30 + dollars. I base my meals on what I have on the shelf and have had to be creative a few times. And also since I, by myself, do the grocery shopping, I am not buying thigs we dont need.. so I have lost 10 pounds! No junk in the house! my husband is a little bummed at the lack of goodies in the house... so we compromised and I posted a post it on the calander board and its our wish list. So I watch for it to go on sale and then I will buy it. and it is working great! I will keep you posted on my progress and hopefully get a picture of my well stocked pantry here soon!

catching up

Soo.. we have been havine a few computer issues lately so I havent been able to blog for awhile. we have been very busy. we spent a weekend in grants pass oregon for riley's great great grandmothers 95th birthday. it was very busy and he asnt too sure about the older folk. it was very cool because he got to meet his great great uncle, his great grandpa was there along with some great aunts and uncles and cousins. a little overwhelming for such a little guy. and if my anxiety wasnt bad enough before the road trip.. i decided 2 days before we were due to leave that I was going ro repaint rileys room. and i was determined to get it done. I saw the picture in a magazine and decided that i could do it. and I love how it turned out. now I just have to finish the decorating part of it.
riley is getting to be quite the little talker. always catching us off guard with a new word... or funny face. he is quite the comedian. I have been learning to crochet and it has become an obsession. i love it. still learning the ropes, but it is quite relaxing.
I can't believe that next week my little man will be 1! I wish I could push it out just for a few more weeks. It feels like we just brought him home yesterday! and now he isnt a baby but a little boy. I guess that me just being a mommy. so I have tons of pictures to upload... but my computer is not cooperating. so for now.. this is it. hopefully i can get them up later!
