first haircut!.. and some random things

Riley's hair was getting a little long in the back and so I decided to trim it myself! it isnt perfect.. but it looks much better. I have pictures.. I will post them soon. awhile ago I was working with him on his sign language.. and he seemed to understand the sign for milk.. but didnt reallt care about anything else. Well lately he has been doing a screeching and pointing type thing to get what he needs and i couldnt take it anymore.. so i dedicated myself to teaching him to sign. after 2 days... he is now signing "all done" and "drink". so our next signs to work on are going to be "more" and "eat". I will keep you posted on our progress.
I am so excited I can hardly stand it! in just a couple of weeks I am going to go see phantom of the opera! I am soo excited!. i just had to get that put of my system. I went to a monthly dinner last friday evening and got to visit with some of my former preschool students and their parents. I took riley along for everyone to meet, since none of them have ever met him before. it was so much fun and I cant believe how big and grown up they are! it was the perfect evening to have dinner at the park! I better go for now.. time to get ready for water aerobics!

my crazy kid

So my little guys LOVES being outside. so here are some pictures of him outside. He has recently changed his crawling method, which everyone finds hilarious. its kind of like a bear crawl. he still crawls normal... especially when he wants to go fast. He has also been standing on his own (but will not let me get a picture) and has decided that going through and over things is much more fun than going around them! what a goofball!

catching up

So I realized that it has been awhile since I have written on my blog. So I thought I would do a quick update. We have been very busy. I remember around christmas time I was looking forward to the holidays getting over so things would slow down. with having a new baby everyone wanted us to go here and there. But things have not slowed down at all. I feel like every weekend there is something or somewhere we have to go. For rileys first fourth of july we went over to our neighbors house and had a big Bbq and lit off some fireworks. Riley was in bed by 800 so he missed out on the fireworks. In the pictures if you look really close you can see his new big boy shoes! we decided that since he is outside ALL the time ( because he loves it!) and he is crawling and cruising it was time for a pair of sandals. they are soo cute!

then today we went to dave's union picnic out at oaks park and it was very hot. but we had a good time. Riley rode the carousel with me and then went down the big slide with daddy.. and then to end the day Him and I shared a cream cicle. he loved it ( especially since it seems like we may be seeing some new teeth sometime soon!) next month will be his first trip to the zoo and I cant wait! It dawned on my the other day that he is almost 1! it makes me sad to think that he is growing so fast. and he wants to try everything on his own. but I am also excited because of the things that are coming!

davids birthday cake
so last saturday, the 21st, my hubby turned 30! so today we had a birthday party for him with some close friends and family. it was very hot, and we dont have air conditioning, but it was a great time with great food. after everyone left it started raining and we had some thunder and lightning which caused me to snuggle up because I hate thunder and lighting. Happy birthday David! 30 looks great on you!

summertime water play!

on friday we had some very hot weather. so I thought what a great time to bring out riley's pool. He was a litte unsure at first, but once he realized it was like his bath tub, only larger... he was splashing and yelling and had a great time!

fathers day!

So Riley and I got up at 7 am this morning ( just like every morning) and let dave sleep in. When he woke up he was greeted with home made muffins and a fathers day card.

then we hung around and relaxed and then took dave out for lunch to the roadhouse mcmenamins for some beer brats and pulled pork sandwiches. it was a beautiful warm day and the kids were playing on the lawn and we got to just hang out and enjoy some great food, drinks and company.

dave is such a great dad and a woonderful husband. Riley and I are very lucky to have him. we love you babe! hope you had a great father's day!

9 months

Riley eating jello and bananas!

what a ham!

so today is Riley's 9 month birthday. I cant believe that in just a few months he will be 1! All I ever wanted to be when I grew up was a mommy. And I must say it is the best job in the world! It is still surreal at times that he is even here and that he really does belong to my husband and I. Most nights I still find myself watching him sleep curled up in his crib and some nights even hoping that he may wake just so that I can watch him snuggle into my arms and as I rock him. I know, I know its sappy. Its just that the love I have for him is so much more than I ever imagined. And watching dave with him... its indescribable. My wish for my son is that he grows to be a respectable, dependable, honest man... ..who always loves his mommy!
