first birthday!

so friday was riley's big day! our little man turned 1! we spent the day just hanging out and had cupcakes after dinner. he wasnt quite sure what to do with it at first and then he dove in.

saturday was his party. just a small get together with family and a few close friends. we held it at a park and he had a great time crawling and even opened a few presents himself! of course he just wanted the paper... when it came time for the cake.. he didnt let us down. he dove in and even put the plate on his head! it was great!

I cant believe he's one! happy birthday riley!

catching up

Soo.. we have been havine a few computer issues lately so I havent been able to blog for awhile. we have been very busy. we spent a weekend in grants pass oregon for riley's great great grandmothers 95th birthday. it was very busy and he asnt too sure about the older folk. it was very cool because he got to meet his great great uncle, his great grandpa was there along with some great aunts and uncles and cousins. a little overwhelming for such a little guy. and if my anxiety wasnt bad enough before the road trip.. i decided 2 days before we were due to leave that I was going ro repaint rileys room. and i was determined to get it done. I saw the picture in a magazine and decided that i could do it. and I love how it turned out. now I just have to finish the decorating part of it.
riley is getting to be quite the little talker. always catching us off guard with a new word... or funny face. he is quite the comedian. I have been learning to crochet and it has become an obsession. i love it. still learning the ropes, but it is quite relaxing.
I can't believe that next week my little man will be 1! I wish I could push it out just for a few more weeks. It feels like we just brought him home yesterday! and now he isnt a baby but a little boy. I guess that me just being a mommy. so I have tons of pictures to upload... but my computer is not cooperating. so for now.. this is it. hopefully i can get them up later!

phantom

so last night was the big night.. phantom of te opera. I just had to write and get the excitement out. t was absolutley fabulous! so much more than I was hoping for. the music (which I love!) hearing it in person was soo exciting. I found myself with goosebumps . and it took everything to not sing along! the costumes were gorgeous! anyway, it was a wonderful night. now Ineed to start saving for when grease comes to town next year!

5 years already?!

So as of today.. david and I have been married for 5 years! it has gone by soo fast and I can't wait to see what adventures are on their way! He is a great husband and I love him more everyday! We spent the day at the zoo! we took riley for the first time and had a great day! I have pictures coming soon. Riley liked the orangutangs (spelling?) best.. just like his mommy. it was great to get to experience it through his eyes. Also.. some other exciting news... riley took his first step yesterday! I swear everyday theres a new word! I love it!

you know your a mom when....

ok.. so last night I found myself giggling to myself. I was cleaning out some purses and everyone I opened had a diaper and a bag of cheerios inside! so I started thinking about the other ways my life has changed now that riley is here.
-my band aids are no longer flesh colored.. but decorated with bright red elmo's!
- measuring spoons are no longer for measuring, but for banging on the kitchen floor!
- gone are the days of top 40 music.. but has been replaced by kids music cd's! (which i love by the way!)
- when I am mopping.. the dog prints are accompanied by smashed carrots, crushed cheerios and berry blue jello!

so I am curious... how are your homes diffrent now that your little ones are here?

just a day at the park

so today the boys and I headed to Raleigh park to check it out as a possible site for riley's birthday party. it was alright... but I think I may choose another one. One a little easier to find and more on the middle for everyone. We did however have a great time. it was a nice day.. not a ton of people. these are the things that I love doing with him. And we FINALLY got a picture of him standing. Riley loved the teeter totter, loves to swing.. and the bubbles that we brought along!
